We are please to announce the 2025 Prize Winners: Nancy Mwari and Nicole Amondi!

Nancy Mwari Murithi is a sustainability expert with deep experience in energy management, carbon footprint analysis, and renewable energy solutions. She has a proven track record of delivering innovative strategies that boost resource efficiency and cut environmental impact across diverse industries. Her career is driven by a passion for sustainable development and creating lasting change.
She holds a Master of Science in Energy Management from the University of Nairobi and a Bachelor’s in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Moi University. Nancy is also a Certified Energy Manager (CEM) and Certified Carbon Auditing Professional (CAP) through the Association of Energy Engineers, with additional training in green transitions, renewable energy, and advanced energy systems.
As a sustainability expert, Nancy supports Kenyan industries in implementing sustainable practices, improving compliance, and achieving measurable energy and cost savings. She collaborates with stakeholders to shape national energy and climate policy, contributing to efforts like the National Climate Change Action Plan and Energy Policy reviews.
Her impact has earned her regional recognition, including the Young Energy Professional of the Year (Sub-Saharan Africa, 2024) and Professional Energy Woman of the Year (2021). A sought-after speaker and trainer, she has empowered hundreds with knowledge in energy efficiency, climate resilience, and the green economy.
With a blend of technical expertise, leadership, and a passion for mentorship, Nancy is a driving force in Africa’s sustainable energy future.
Nicole Amondi Satshe is the Regional Coordinator at the Youth Climate Council Global Alliance and a dedicated advocate for equitable climate solutions. With over eight years of experience in environmental advocacy, Nicole focuses on designing and implementing community-driven, gender-sensitive energy efficiency interventions. While working at The People’s Accords, she led a clean energy project that distributed 30 energy-efficient Jikokoa cookstoves to vulnerable households in Kenya, pairing this with hands-on training that led to a 40% reduction in charcoal use within just three months.
Nicole’s work is rooted in a deep commitment to justice and dignity, she views energy access not only as a technical need but as a pathway to health, opportunity, and resilience for communities on the frontlines of climate change. She brings systems thinking, grassroots leadership, and passion to every project she leads. As the 2025 Kathleen Gaffney Prize recipient, Nicole is honored to advance this legacy and continue building a more just and sustainable future through inclusive, locally driven solutions.
